Tip of the Month from Mental Health First Aid

A meaningful mental health check-in does not have to be long or formal. This month, try building one small moment of connection into your day — with yourself or someone else.

Ask yourself, “What do I need right now?” or send a quick message to a friend, colleague or family member to ask how they are doing. Listening without trying to fix, offering encouragement or simply making space for an honest answer can help reduce isolation and remind someone they are not alone.

Whether you are supporting a friend, coworker, neighbor or family member, Mental Health First Aid training helps you learn to recognize signs that someone may be struggling, start a supportive conversation and connect people to appropriate help. You can help reduce stigma, strengthen community support and make mental wellbeing a priority in the places where you live, work and gather.
